Gypsy Travellers

From 1990 to 2005 I worked with Save the Children fund with young Gypsy Travellers in many contexts to support their health and wellbeing and to create films and animations about their lives, enabling them to participate in parliamentary inquiries, sharing personal experiences of systemic discrimination and advocate for formal ethnic identity recognition. This work contributed to Gypsy Travellers being recognised as a Minority Ethnic Group by the Scottish Parliament’s Equal Opportunities Committee in June 2001.

I obtained a lifetime achievement award for my work with the SCF Gypsy Traveller Team in 2005.

More information about this work will be collated here shortly.
